Knowledge management and social learning: exploring the cognitive dimension of development

After providing insight in the origin of knowledge management, the article investigates the relationship between knowledge management and development. Among others, it presents the different aspects of knowledge in society and clarifies the importance of knowledge management at the local level as well as the potential of a social learning approach.

A case study on knowledge management and social learning is included based on CARE's experiences in Latin America and The Caribbean.
