The Inquiry Based Approach (IBA) has been developed to facilitate multi-stakeholder collaboration for the transformation of situations which are contested, uncertain and complex; known as “wicked situations”. Drawing on learning theory and the action research tradition, the IBA revolves around an inquiry, a question that enables collaboration among various stakeholders.

This online toolkit provides information about the core functions of leadership, management, and group facilitation. It clarifies the different types, styles and functions of leadership, including ethical and collaborative leadership, and shares insights on how to encourage and build leadership. A separate chapter focuses on the essentials of becoming an effective manager. The last chapter zooms in on group facilitation and problem-solving.

Photovoice

Photovoice is a ground-breaking approach to participatory action research. The beauty of photovoice is its diversity; every photovoice project is different, and each project has a different focus. With photovoice, different stories are told, different photographs are captured and different outcomes are sought. Despite the many differences, common to each photovoice project is its effectiveness as a method to reveal real life experiences and empower marginalized individuals, particularly girls and women.
